Is a complete and utter bitch.

Area competition was yesterday for band. It was so-so.

Prelims )

and then...

Finals )

But enough about the detailed downer, I got my homecoming/carosul/prom/band banquet? dress. I felt a little bad about it though because it was originally $449. ><;; The lady managed to give us a good discount off of it (she lowered it down to about 300something.) But I needed alterations, because I wasn't exactly tall as the dress. But it's so pretty.

>: I feel so bad now tho. When I wanted to get my homecoming dress I wanted it to be like at least 100 or less. But... >;

Was somewhat of a dissapointment.

We came, we played, we amazed?

We got fourth place of something or another at prelims, made it to finals, but was in 7th place all around.

We saw a band that was preforming the full duration of our segment three (Machu Pichu, city in the sky) we went after them in finals. So it was an almost "Deja Vu" feeling. XD;

=\ then it came time for final results. We were at 7th at prelims, and we stayed at seventh for finals. I thought we did better then seventh. I really did. But I have a feeling that we jinxed our selves by saying we were going to make at least 3rd or 1st that morning.

8( At least we did better then the Carrol band (the band that preformed Machu Pichu.) We placed higher then them, but still. =\ I felt like we did a whole lot better, but that might have been me. I felt like puking before we started.

But a funny thing happened yesterday. Our drum majors were on the fifty for prelims. (And how Hayley got it was she had to pick a number between 1 and 40, she chose 45. XD) And so after yelling for our school being annoucned, I yelled out "WE ON DA FIFTY!"
And then when we had to preform for finals, we were walking in and apparently a school yelled "THEY ON DA FIFTY!" XD

I love spreading trends :33

:O I got woken up by a doggie today.

Wow, so after I got off Shitty McCrapperson, I got onto good ole Harold. (Yes, I named my laptop x3)

And looking at segment two's music selection makes me want to cry.

I thought Mr. Taylor was trying to be funny by making up lyrics to the melody. And I joined in to on my rendition of Dance In Darkness I would sing "My mommy, my poppy, my sister, my shoe..."

But looking at the original lyrics. It's so touching. Fuck the entire segment is touching.

Dear Gene, of course you are here
And now it's nothing to fear
Oooh, I should have known
Oooh, I was never alone

This isn't the last song
There is no violin
The choir is so quiet
And no-one takes a spin
This is the next-to-last song
And that's all, all

Remember what I have said
Remember, wrap up the bread
Do this, do that, make your bed

This isn't the last song
There is no violin
The choir is quiet
And no-one takes a spin
This is the next-to-last song

And that's all ...

Bjork, y so sad?

After hearing a few songs off of youtube, it makes me understand the music selection more. It makes me want to play more from the heart instead of nothing, which was how I was playing it before...

But holy crap. Machu Picchu sounds so kick ass. XD I love it! And I now know that the little zorro theme was even included/written in the original piece for Machu Picchu.

Pfft, listening to fusion made me confused. I didn't hear anything.

"So shake your bambama."

Hah, I haven't listened to "Hey Mama" from the Black Eyed Peas in a long ass time. It brings the OG inside of me. No joke. 8D haha, I know so much gangsters that I could be one if I wanted to (pfft, although I don't wanna, coz my brother's a gangster, and then he'd be like "wtfnoogtfobitch."

But anyways, we had our first run through of the opener on the field :3 It was amazing. Not gonna lie.
Sure there are an ass load of things we could work on, for example keeping shapes now that they've taken the training wheels away, as well as spacing.
But it was bliss. We played the loudest we could. And it sounded so wonderful.

Mr. Jones: "I want you to play your loudest on a Bb concert for three quarter notes."
Band: *does as told*
Mr. Jones: "Good, now that you've proven to me you can play loud, do it all the time."

Heh, I'm somewhat shocked that I have a good portion of it memorized already. Sure there are parts where it's like "UHHHWTFDOIPLAY?!" but then there's other parts that are like "OMGIKNOWTHISWHYDOESN'TANYONEELSE?!"

Haha, I'm doing good for only having looked at the piece like three or four times. :3

School was blarg. And damn it's already 10? Damn.

D: well I guess I should look at two of the school songs I have yet memorized. 'Cause I think we're playing school songs off tomorrow?

I sure as hell hope that it's not going to be half of the first segment. You can't expect people to already have it memorized--err, well the people who have stuff to do.

D: But whatever, there are parts I know and parts where it's like "hmm imma count now. see you laterz"

BUTOMGIT'SSOSCARY. Two color guard members come really close to me in these two moves. The new director goes "who's C12" (lol, like four times... D'8) and I go. "uh I am?" And then he instructs Avie (and then later Kalip) that she should be just a few inches away from my bell. I'm so happy they aren't doing a flag move there. They're just actually moving XD;

8D although I wouldn't mind if they knocked my shit clarinet (or as Nick would say "Walmart brand") out of my hand, but if they did it during UIL I would totally freak out, coz they always make you march with the best horn you have. But I guess it'd be cool to take one for the band >D true dedication man.

Well anyways, I should get onto memorizing lame-o confidence. As well as the star spangled banner.
